HOME House

This project has been developed for a design competition hosted by SECCA for the benefit of Habitat for Humanity.

The challenge was to come up with an innovative solution for an inexpensive three bedroom house.

The budget was $70,000 for a maximum living area of 1065 s.f. The house had to have only one bathroom and no garage, and a simple, straight forward structure that could be easily built with volunteer work.

The solution was a 25’x25′ post and beam structure in which elements could be added or removed according to owners’ needs.

The glass facade on the South wall can be completely opened to the garden and additional building modules can be inserted in the upper part of the house frame as needed.
